Packagers expect their packaging machinery purchases through the end of 2008 will remain fairly steady with last year’s pace, according to the 2008 Purchasing Plans Study from PMMI. Overall, the survey’s participating packagers estimate machinery purchases of $6.292 billion, up a slight 0.4 percent from 2007. While the aggregate averages are modestly positive, the individual responses reveal a mixed forecast, but with none veering very far from the 2007 sales levels.
