PeelSeam end opens rectangular cans of anchovies

October 14, 2008 - Grupo Gil Comes, Vinaròs, Spain, adopts PeelSeam technology from Crown Food Europe, Paris, France, for cans of Hacendado brand anchovies. Product, destined for Spain’s largest retailer, Mercadona SA, Valencia, Spain, relies on new small, rectangular, 99 x 46-millimetre version of PeelSeam membrane end to simplify opening, differentiate product on-shelf. PeelSeam end is compatible with existing cans, conventional double-seaming equipment. Business unit of Crown Holdings Inc., Philadelphia, PA, heat-seals foil laminate to rigid steel rings at plant in Vigo, Spain, which also makes various sizes of PeelSeam ends for round cans.
