Pepsi signs four-year supply agreement with Constar



October 13, 2008 - Pepsi-Cola North America, Purchase, NY, signs four-year supply agreement with Constar International Inc., Philadelphia, PA. Under agreement, Constar, a long-time Pepsi supplier, provides polyethylene terephthalate preforms, bottles for cold-filled beverages. Reflecting Pepsi’s growing use of self-manufacturing, changes in market demand for cold-filled beverages like carbonated soft drinks, ratio of preforms to bottles shifts in favor of preforms, total volume dips. To offset lower sales, generate higher cash flows, Constar plans additional restructuring to reduce overhead, anticipates saving up to $32 million, including savings from previously announced closure of facility in Houston, TX.
