Pliant begins allocations of film, flexible packaging

Pliant Corp., Schaumburg, IL, begins allocating existing inventories of film, flexible packaging products, adjusting some prices. Company takes measures in wake of Hurricane Ike, which struck Gulf Coast on 13 September 2008 caused shutdown of Gulf Coast resin production, refining capacity. In 15 September 2008 letter to customers, Harold Bevis, president/ceo, states: “We are currently assessing the full impact to our resin supply, including the ability of our suppliers to make deliveries of critical raw materials and services. Based on our initial assessment, we expect that North American resin supply capabilities will be immediately reduced.”
