July 31, 2008 - Rexam plc, London, UK, sets sales record for first half of 2008 with 30% increase to £2,191.0 (US$4,336.4) million from £1,688.0 (US$3,325.1) million during same period in 2007; operating profit jumps 47% to record £217.0 (US$429.5) million from £148.0 (US$292.9) million, with spikes attributed to “good pricing, cost recovery, efficiency savings, synergies;” robust growth in beverage cans, enlarged plastic packaging businesses offset uncertain economic climate, rising cost pressure…
