PIAB offers VGS™ 3010 for reliable packaging at higher speeds Vacuum Gripper System (VGS™) features COAX® vacuum cartridge integrated with DURAFLEX® suction cup PIAB, a global leader in industrial vacuum technology, offers the VGS™ 3010 (Vacuum Gripper System) as an innovative solution for a variety of automated material handling applications in the packaging industry. Featuring a DURAFLEX® suction cup and a COAX® cartridge, the VGS™ 3010 is designed to increase material handling reliability at higher speeds. The decentralized design of the VGS™ 3010 allows for vacuum to be generated directly at the point of suction, which drastically reduces energy consumption while also preventing pressure loss problems inherent to traditional vacuum systems that utilize a centrally located vacuum pump. Additionally, the product’s flexible design eliminates the need for multiple end effectors when handling different shapes and sizes, which makes for quick and easy changeover and reduces downtime. At the heart of the VGS™ 3010 is a vaccum cartridge based on COAX® technology, which integrates the internal components of a multi-stage vacuum pump into a vacuum cartridge, resulting in a smaller, more efficient, more reliable and highly flexible technology. The cartridge is integrated with a DURAFLEX® suction cup to form a single unit, called a “Gripper.” The unique dual-hardness of the DURAFLEX® suction cups make them ideally suited for applications where micro-leakage can occur, such as corrugated cardboard handling. By providing both the strength and flexibility needed to seal uneven or coarse surfaces, the DURAFLEX® suction cup ensures a reliable grip during a variety of packaging applications such as carton erecting and palletizing.
