PPi Technologies, a south Manatee County package machinery maker, again made the list after topping it last year with a 4,477 percent, five-year revenue growth rate.

Also on the list were Lakewood Ranch's Speedcom Wireless Corp., a wireless communications company, and Teltronics Inc., a south Manatee County company that makes telecommunications switches and telecom hardware and software.

The list -- called the Florida High Tech Corridor Technology Fast 50 -- has not yet ranked the companies in order of growth.

That completed list will be announced at a Sept. 17 dinner at the Tampa Marriott Waterside.

The successor to the Tampa Bay Partnership's Fast 50 list, the Florida High Tech Corridor list includes companies selected from Manatee, Sarasota, Brevard, Citrus, Desoto, Flagler, Hardee, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Lake, Levy, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia counties.

The companies on the list must be technology businesses; have operated a minimum of five years with 1997 revenues of at least $50,000 and 2001 revenues of at least $1 million and be a public or private company based in one of the corridor's counties.

PPi designs standup, re-sealable pouch packages and the machines that make them. It uses equity partnerships with a series of manufacturers to produce them. Last year, Speedcom was No. 17 on the list.

The list is sponsored by a host of companies and entities, including Deloitte & Touche, the Maddux Report, Bank of America, the city of Tampa, Lakeland Electric and the University of South Florida.
