Even complex tasks can be mastered within a network

Connection modules that enable several base units to communicate with each other are now available for the Pilz multifunctional safety system PNOZmulti. The benefit: if a unit’s physical limits are exhausted, users can employ several PNOZmulti devices, enabling them to monitor and control more complex machinery.

The modular structure of the PNOZmulti enables you to connect up to six PNOZml1p connection modules to each base unit, allowing both ring and tree structures to be established. The connection interfaces are galvanically isolated, so that data can be exchanged even when machines have different supplies. Communication between the connection modules is guaranteed by 4-core, screened cable, through which up to 32 bits of information can be safely transferred in both directions from unit to unit.

Data exchange made simple
Very little wiring work is involved in establishing the connection. In the spirit of plug-and-play, ready-made cable is available, complete with terminals. Cable runs of up to 50 metres leave plenty scope for design, even when plants are linked. Users can quickly and easily allocate the information to be transferred within the configuration tool, the PNOZmulti Configurator, which is also used to configure all the required safety and control functions. No specialist knowledge of safe bus systems is required, nor do the connected devices need to be specifically addressed. Where once there were only limited opportunities to exchange the necessary information between units, the connection modules now provide a convenient solution.

The simple way to greater economy
PNOZmulti is multifunctional, freely configurable and tailor-made for use in many areas of mechanical engineering. The safety system monitors safety functions such as E-STOP, safety gates, light beam devices, two-hand and many more . PNOZmulti can also be used to resolve standard control functions economically. Instead of wiring, users can generate the safety circuit on the PC using an intuitive configuration tool. The configuration is stored on a chip card and inserted into the base unit.
