New Omron ZFV 2D Smart Vision Sensors Bring Cost Control And Higher Speeds To Sensing Applications

SCHAUMBURG, IL (January 10, 2005)—Omron Electronics LLC has introduced a new compact size 2D smart vision sensor, the ZFV, designed to bring higher sensing speeds, greater efficiency and lower operating costs to sensing and vision applications. Speeds of 4, 6 or 12ms can be selected, and intelligent lighting optimizes image quality and the ability to adjust focus maximizes measurement accuracy. Images are transmitted digitally from sensor head to an amplifier and between amplifiers for clearer images. The ZFV sensor head offers a sensing view of 5mm to 50mm. Single-function or standard multifunction amplifiers are available as appropriate to the customer application.

Advanced algorithms enable these smart vision sensors to offer a wider choice of viewing area as well as enhanced discrimination of pattern, brightness, character detection, label position, target width, and detecting bar codes. Operations are selected on the amplifier’s LCD monitor using easily-identifiable icons. One touch tracking simplifies set-up. The LCD monitor displays real time inspection images and can be panel mounted to eliminate separate monitoring equipment.

The new ZFV 2D smart vision sensor is ideal for packaging and electronics operations where cost-effective high-speed inspections are necessary. The ZFV 2D smart vision sensors and amplifiers are currently in stock, and are priced at $2,000 for a sensor/amplifier system.
