FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, (June 10, 2005)-Omron Electronics LLC is a sponsoring member of the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Research Center established at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Arkansas, which celebrated its official opening today. The 19 sponsoring members will participate in the Center's research activities and include retail, market and industry leaders, all intimately involved in the technical development and practical application of RFID technology, and in public policy which will govern its future.

"As a manufacturer of RFID and automation systems," said Bill Arnold, Omron's Partner Business Manager, "Omron is delighted to be working alongside such a distinguished group of colleagues to advance not only RFID technology, but also industry and public understanding of the opportunities and challenges deploying the technology presents to us."

The center, a unit of the university's Sam M. Walton College of Business, plans to become an internationally recognized leader in RFID application research and the study of its impact on business and society. It includes a "live-environment" laboratory and will offer product testing. It will draw on expertise from its sponsoring members.

The center's official opening was recognized with an RFID Forum featuring comments by the sponsors, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour of the research facility.
