Packaging Case Study 1

Problem
The maker of horizontal cartoning equipment approached us about a new project that required several different article buckets to accommodate the same number of product sizes. We thought there had to be a better way. Why go to the expense of making a bucket for each product? Wouldn't that be a huge cost for bucket changeover? Couldn't you accomplish the same thing using a moveable sidewall insert? Why not?

Solution
Yes! There is a way! Omni's redesigned bucket features a pattern of keyholes in the bottom and the sidewall with matching pins that fit through the keyholes. Multiple rows of holes permit the sidewall to fit in two of the four locations and another set of sidewalls fit in the remaining two. The walls are secured with ball detents that prevent them from any movement during use. No tools are needed to reposition the walls during changeover. All together four separate product buckets were consolidated into ONE DESIGN.

Results
The project not only resulted in a significant cost savings but the added flexibility impressed the end user as well. Marry this together with the added benefits of using engineered plastics over stainless steel and you've got a real hit.

Your customers will benefit from the same ingenuity and innovation that we offer to all our clients.

It's just one of the services Omni offers.
