ZIP-PAK Introduces New Custom Zipper For The Japanese Converter Market

Wednesday, September 24, 2003

Zip-Pak, a world leader in resealable packaging solutions, announces the development of a new value-added zipper specifically geared toward the Japanese converter industry. Capable of being applied to both polypropylene and polyethylene film structures, the new E-212-001 zipper innovation allows Japanese converters to enjoy the convenience and cost-savings of using just one zipper on either film.

Zip-Pak designed the zipper with a new proprietary coextruded sealant layer material that enables adhesion to both polypropylene and polyethylene at lower sealing temperatures. Previously, converters had to use different zipper products for the two types of packaging films.

“Providing Japanese converters with one zipper for two films helps them reduce inventories,” said Robert Hogan, Director of Sales and Marketing at Zip-Pak. “This economical zipper meets converters’ needs and sets new standards for innovative resealable solutions in the Japanese market.”

Zip-Pak designed and produced the new zipper to meet the precise specifications of Japanese pre-formed pouch machinery. The 12mm wide flanged zipper utilizes a narrower profile lock on the zipper that fits the existing applicator guides on Japanese equipment.

To better serve its Japanese customers, Zip-Pak recently partnered with Mitsubishi Corporation in a joint venture to form Zip-Pak Japan. “This relationship will enable Japanese converters to provide end users with more convenient resealable packaging,” said Hogan. “Local and regional converters can benefit from this alliance and continue to meet increasing consumer demand for resealability.”

With its more than 200 patented zipper profiles, Zip-Pak is a global leader for resealable packaging technology. World headquarters are located in Manteno, IL. Zip-Pak is an Illinois Tool Works (ITW) Company.
