For example, the SureFoam™system mixes inert gas with hot melt to reduce adhesive density and use by 50 percent or more. Foamed adhesive is superior at filling gaps in uneven or warped board surfaces.

The integrated ProBlue® Fulfill™ melter and fill system detects adhesive levels and automatically conveys fresh adhesive to the tank. Consistent levels minimize adhesive charring, poor bonding, reject packages and scrap. Waste from adhesive spillage and over filling are also eliminated.

Applying intermittent “stitches” of adhesive instead of continuous adhesive beads dramatically reduces the amount of adhesive required to securely close and seal packages.

In labeling, Nordson PatternJet™ systems with EcoPattern™ technology employ non-contact adhesive guns to deliver tiny spirals of adhesive onto any size container with little or no stringing. Adhesive savings of up to 90 percent, compared to conventional wheel-pot applicators, are typical. These non-contact systems also use 50 percent less energy than a conventional wheel-pot labeling system.
