About American Packaging Corporation

American Packaging Corporation is a privately held company with over one hundred years of experience in the manufacture of flexible packaging specifications. The Kardon family founded company in Philadelphia in 1902. Orignally named American Bag & Paper, for the first half century the company was a specialized bag producer. In 1966, American Bag merged with Northern Packaging, an extrusion laminating and coating company located in Rochester, NY. In 1972, the company diversified into rotogravure printing by acquiring Ameripak located in Columbus, WI. Stanley Schottland, CEO of American Bag, purchased the company in 1986 and renamed the company American Packaging Corporation. With the company flourishing, the Schottland family moved the pre-formed products segment to Story City, IA and diversified their product offering by adding a number of PDI pouch fabricating machines. In 1997, the Story City facility was expanded and flexographic printing and laminating was added to enhance the company’s converting capabilities to meet the increasing demand for flexographically printed packaging specifications.
