Huhtamäki Oyj was established in 1920 and is incorporated in Espoo, Finland, where the Group Head Office is located. The company has been listed on Helsinki Exchanges (HEX) since 1960.

Huhtamaki has evolved from a multi-industry company into a consumer packaging specialist through a series of almost 200 company acquisitions and divestments since 1980. Many of the oldest and finest names in packaging now belong to our family. In 1988, we set out to achieve world leadership in a closely defined business area by 2000. At that time, packaging was only one of our many activities and accounted for less than 25% of global sales.

Today, we maintain a strategic focus on consumer packaging. We have more than 70 manufacturing and sales units and over 15,000 employees in 36 countries. Our net sales in 2003 amounted to € 2.1 billion.
